We, alumni of Cultural Vistas international exchange programs around the world, write in support of the people of Ukraine who are experiencing an unprovoked war on their homeland and on their basic human rights. This is a crisis with disastrous implications for us all.
A driving force of the Cultural Vistas Alumni Community is to help ensure prospering democratic societies and institutions. Our values are built on global unity and interconnectedness. As alumni, we have been given the privilege to experience these values and to develop greater intercultural understanding and empathy towards other cultures, communities, and people. We affirm the interconnectedness of our world and the right of all people to live in a free, democratic society without the threat of occupation or the devastation of war.
As a global community, we strongly condemn the Russian war in Ukraine and call for a Russian de-escalation of the conflict immediately. We also voice our support for Russians speaking out against this action of their government. No matter where you live or which citizenship you hold, please join us in standing in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and all those who are affected by this war.
