  • This is not a job application or application for visa sponsorship!

Complete this form to be included in a general pool of candidates for fall 2025 programs.
  • We are thrilled you are interested in applying for the BridgeUSA program to teach in U.S. primary and secondary schools.  If you'd like to be considered for programs starting July/August 2025, please complete this form.

Cultural Vistas leverages the power of international exchange to connect lives, enhance global skills, and drive positive change.  Our teacher program aims to foster intercultural learning between Americans and other nations including students of all ages. Teachers are embedded in communities for 3-5 years creating lasting relationships with students, colleagues and parents. This type of sustained dialogue creates the ability for people from different backgrounds to appreciate diverse perpsectives and fosters collaboration.

As a BridgeUSA sponsor, Cultural Vistas is responsible for administering exchange programs in compliance with the U.S. Department of State’s public diplomacy goals and visa requirements.  Cultural Vistas can provide qualified individuals with the J-1 Visa sponsorship necessary to pursue full-time paid teaching positions at accredited K-12 schools.  We are also charged with monitoring and support through the whole program.

For more specific details on J-1 programs, please review this Power Point before you submit this form.  Submitting this form DOES NOT guarantee you a position and does not constitute an application for sponsorship.

    How it works:

First, you must purchase a credential evaluation report before you can submit your resume.  Download this guide if you aren't familiar with Credential Reports. We will not review your submission if you do not submit a report.

After you submit, we will first assess your basic eligibility for the visa.  If you are a viable candidate AND we have a potential position for you, you will be asked to submit more information before being added to the 2025 pool of candidates. If you do not hear from us, that means you may not be qualified or we do not yet have a position that matches you.  We cannot respond to every person due to high volume.

If you are not yet sure whether you want to be considered, you do not need to complete this form.  Please contact me at cgillam@culturalvistas.org to discuss your interest and clarify any questions you have.

Note:  We cannot guarantee location, salary, etc.  If you are set on certain places or other specifics, please do not submit your resume and, instead, search for positions by conducting research and applying yourself.  Schools do not need to be pre-registered with us or have experience with the J-1 but you should thoroughly review the power point to educate yourself before applying for positions.

J-1 eligibility requirements: Please read the eligibility very carefully!  Just becuase you qualify to teach in your country does not mean you meet U.S. visa requirements.  Here are few of the basics.

    • Possesses equivalent to U.S. 4- year bachelor degree or above in education or the subject you teach.
    • Two years of full-time teaching experience in K-12 schools (not interns, assistants or fill-in subs or language schools, cultural centers or other non-primary or secondary school)
    • Currently teaching abroad at the time of application

    English resumes only!

Do not put age, gender, religion, salary, marital status, photos, or nonbusiness/professional social media.

When listing jobs, start with the current and work down.

    Each job you list should:

-clearly indicate the grade levels or ages and subjects taught.  You can always write “all subjects” when applicable.
-clearly indicate the city/country as many of you are teaching around the world and not in your home country.
-include dates of employment MM/YY – MM/YY. This helps me understand your complete history.
-indicate if you taught in English if not in an English-speaking country. This highlights your English skills.
-indicate if specific curricula/models were used such as International Baccalaureate, Cambridge or Common      Core or a bilingual setting.

Keep education and work experience up front. Additional trainings and seminars should come later.  Show off your core qualifications first!

Don’t overdo it. Resumes should be no more than 2 pages.
